Medeco® and the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) teamed up to create an exciting, scenario based training that a partnership of locksmiths and crime prevention officials can use in their local communities. Through the United for a Stronger America – A Safe Workplace is Everybody’s Business initiative, businesses will receive easy to use materials that help make workplaces safer and more prepared for emergencies.

This initiative was developed as a result of the fear and apprehension that Americans continue to experience since September 11. Americans continue to worry about terrorism but remain uncertain about its impact on their day-to-day lives, and don’t know what actions they can take.

To date, the Office of Homeland Security and the USA Freedom Corps’s public response to terrorism has not been focused on the workplace. To fill this gap, NCPC and Medeco have formed a partnership to help businesses and their employees prevent crime and increase safety and security in the workplace. The United for a Stronger America?A Safe Workplace Is Everybody’s Business initiative has been developed specifically for safety and security professionals. The program provides (free of cost) the necessary tools and materials to help locksmiths and crime prevention officers set up meetings with local businesses to provide expert advice on how to increase the safety and security of their facility, and their personnel within.

Participants in the free training program will learn, through scenario-based training, how to make their businesses safer. This interactive method of learning will be easily applied to real-life experiences.

“This program provides local businesses with practical, useful, timely information that will help make their workplaces better places to be,” said Bob Cook, Medeco Security Locks’ President.

“Also, it is critical that local businesses become involved in homeland security effort across the country to prepare citizens for emergencies and teach them ways to be safer,” said John Calhoun, NCPC’s President and CEO, about this new initiative.
